EUSA EUC Rugby 7s 2025 Concludes with a Joyful Closing Ceremony in Ankara

The EUSA European Universities Championship Rugby 7s 2025 has officially concluded on 24 July with an exciting Closing Ceremony held at the İ.D. Bilkent University Stadium, marking the unforgettable connection between 2 huge university campuses, athletes, officials, volunteers and rugby fans.
The ceremony was attended by senior representatives of İ.D. Bilkent University, Middle East Technical University (METU), Turkish University Sports Federation (TUSF), Turkish Rugby Federation, and several consular representatives from the participating countries.
The event brought together athletes, officials, volunteers, organizers, and fans in a joyful celebration of achievement, friendship, and sporting excellence. 10 men team and 5 women teams, totally over 220 participants from 15 universities across 6 countries took part in this year’s championship.
This diverse representation turned the Championship into a genuine display of European unity through sport, where numerous languages, cultures, and traditions converged on a single stage. In the men’s final, the title of champions went to SAN JORGE UNIVERSITY (ESP) who triumphed in a thrilling match against UNIVERSITY OF PAU AND PAYSDE I’ADOUR with a last possession point.
In the women’s final, played by top two French teams, the title of champions went to UNIVERSITY OF BORDEAUX following an exciting victory over UNIVERSITY OF TOULUSE. Both final matches showcased intense competition, enthusiastic crowds, and emotional moments—creating memories that will last a lifetime for both players and spectators. The MVP award was given to LAUREA BERRIEIX and presented by Maria Gyolcsos, EUSA Rugby 7s Technical Delegate. The Wooden Spoon Award given to METU. The award was presented by Ahmet Yıldırım from the Organizing Committee.

The MVP award was given to Eduardo MARTIN TUTARD from San Jorge University. The award was presented by tournament director Michal Czerwiowski.
The Wooden Spoon Award was given to UNIVERSITY OF DEBRECEN. The award was presented by O.C. member Aydın Gökmen Güner.
Fair Play Award was given to EDUARDO TORRES MOREIRA The award was presented by citing commissioner Mihai Irimia.
Upon the closing speeches of university senior management members and EUSA SCAC member Agita Abele, the EUSA flag was passed to Zaragoza University members, who will organize the next EUSA EUC Rugby 7s in 2027.
This symbolic moment marked the official end of this year's Championship and passed on the responsibility and excitement to the next host city.
Throughout the Championship, the competition was marked not only by top-level performance but also by strong values of sportsmanship, cultural exchange, and mutual respect. The dedicated volunteer team of over 40 local and international students played a key role in ensuring that the event ran smoothly from start to finish.
Audiences also enjoyed cultural side events, local hospitality, and the celebratory spirit that surrounded the city during the Championship.
“Being part of this organization made us all feel like a member of an international family” shared by international volunteers Benni Coco, local volunteers Nesrin Serra Köşkeroğlu and Murat Baskın praising the event’s organization and welcoming atmosphere for the volunteers as well.
From stunning comebacks and surprise victories, this year's edition brought countless unforgettable moments both on and off the field. The next EUC will take place in Zaragoza, ESP, all teams are warmly welcomed to join the next championship.
